“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews, NIV).
Yesterday evening I had the opportunity to volunteer in a telethon hosted by the American Red Cross to help citizens affected by Hurricane Harvey. Upon offering to volunteer, I was nervous because I had never participated in a Telethon. It was so uplifting to witness how many individuals acted selflessly, offering monetary, toiletries and offering a helping hand to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. I am also happy that I was able to help by answering the phones. The Lord teaches us compassion even in the midst of troubles times. He teaches us that despite our differences, we are called to help those who are need. We all may not be able to travel to Texas to lend the hand, but there are other ways we can be involved. We never know when we will be in the receiving end, so it’s a blessing if we can share with others whether it’s our time, financial support, service or uplifting one another in prayer! I encourage everyone to help in any way that they can. We should continue to help and uplift those affected in prayer. My prayers are with those in Texas, Louisiana and any other locations!
