Something’s Missing

“Searched all over couldn’t find nobody. I looked high and low, still couldn’t find nobody. Nobody greater than You.” Life is indeed a journey. We go through life trying to find our purpose, pleasing others, making mistakes, and we find ourselves looking in all of the wrong places for love and acceptance. However, we find that we’re still empty, feeling a hollow void that is present within us. We may have the great career, happy relationship, supportive family, financial prosperity, but none of that means anything without Jesus. I am a witness to this because it happened in my own life. The Lord has been dealing with me and showing me who I really am in Him. As He shows me myself, I find myself not wanting to accept what He is revealing. So what do I do? I try to keep busy, going to this meeting, hanging out with friends, in this program, in that program. I know once God has me in the comfort of my own solitude He will reveal things that I feel I am not ready to hear. But as I keep busy, filling my schedule with an abundance of activities, I still felt empty. I know that God is the only one who can fill that void. He is the only One that can love me unconditionally, despite my sinfulness. He never fails me. While we run from God’s purpose for our lives, we are limiting ourselves of Christ’s love for us. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). He wants us to be great for the glory of His Kingdom. He wants us to inherit the earth. Christ truly wants to give us the desires of our hearts if we delight ourselves in Him. (Psalm 37:4). But we cannot obtain those things on our own. As much as we try, we will never succeed without His power and perfect will. It’s funny though; how as we run from God’s calling, He somehow places us right where we need to be even still. We need to open up our hearts to Him. Let Him mold us, let Him fill us up. He not only wants to fill us up, but He produces an overflow of His blessings. Isn’t that awesome? Christ gives us more than enough. He gives us more than the desires of our hearts. His plans for us are great and far beyond our imagination. All we need to do is accept Him into our lives. We need to surrender all to Him. While we’re out searching for the missing piece in our lives, Christ stands waiting for us to heed His call. He’s Who’s missing. Let Him complete you.
