“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results” (James 5:16).

It’s easy to give God praise when all is great in our lives, but can we praise Him when all hell breaks loose? I’m learning that I need God’s strength the most when I am going through storms. Sometimes we want to take matters into our own hands instead of just releasing it all to God. Why are we so stubborn? We should not be ashamed to show ourselves to the Lord because He already knows all about us (Psalm 139:1). We would rather talk it out with friends and loved ones than go to The Supreme Source Himself. I am sometimes guilty of doing this as well. When certain situations happen in my life, I find myself talking to my best friend, cousins, parents, aunties, uncles (you get the picture), but when all is said and done, I am still confused and still in pain from whatever the situation I was experiencing. Now there is nothing wrong with seeking advice, (Proverbs 15:22). We should not, however seek people for answers because the only One with the answers for our lives is Christ. Oh, how our lives would be so much more peaceful if we trusted Him completely with our problems and concerns. When we give it all to Him, a burden will be lifted and you will feel it in your spirit. There will be the feeling of security and peace knowing that everything will be alright. God will begin to work in our lives and we will see His work. We must be patient, remembering that the Lord moves in His timing. As quickly as we may want the answer, we may not be ready to receive it. So we must wait. Waiting on the Lord is a whole lot more peaceful than seeking people for the answers to our circumstances. We will know that when the Lord is finished working in our lives the results will be great and in our favor every time (Romans 8:28-30)! As the old hymn goes, “Now let us have a little talk with Jesus; Let us tell Him all about our troubles. He will hear our faintest cry and He will answer by and by. When you feel a little prayer wheel turning and you will know a little fire is burnin’. You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right!”
